Of all of the destinations that we visited out East, Newport was the biggest surprise (in the best possible way!). We had visited Nantucket before, and my friends and fellow bloggers had prepped me for Kennebunkport. But Newport? Totally different – I went in completely blind without any recommendations and a blank itinerary.

Normally, I prepare for trips for months in advance. Prior to this one, I was really sick and used what little energy that I had to pull together the plan for the first three cities that we visited. Since Newport was the last leg of the trip, we didn’t really plan anything. I’m so glad that was the case!

The town is designed for an amazing vacation – an Instagrammer’s dream, really. There is so much to see, do, photograph, eat, and enjoy – you really can’t go wrong. Our trip also started out on the right foot because we stayed the most wonderful hotel – The Attwater by Lark Hotels. After staying at 21 Broad on Nantucket and Captain Fairfield Inn in Kennebunkport, I knew that we were in good hands! Lark Hotels really understands what the modern traveler is looking for – beautiful and modern interior design, delicious food, and incredible service and amazing hospitality.

The Attwater is centrally located to almost everything, including the beautiful downtown area and cliff walk. I’d still recommend renting a car so that you can roam around town (plus, the hotel has free parking). We loved the complimentary breakfast in the morning and cookies and sweets throughout the day. They also have a beautiful outdoor patio with comfortable seating which is perfect for reading a book or drinking a glass of wine (I did this both days we stayed there!).

Our hotel room was HUGE; it included a separate living room area with comfortable seating (even a mini fridge) and then a separate bedroom. I love all of the pops of color throughout the hotel – from bold blues to dynamic greens. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Newport, I highly recommend The Attwater!
