Confession: I’m an outerwear girl through and through. As a lifelong Chicagoan, a great coat is the first thing people see when it’s cold out, and it can make even jeans and a tee feel pulled together. Today, I wanted to share my Veronica Beard Dickey Coat review. After all, when I find a version that’s a little different from everything else in my closet, I am sincerely pumped.
Enter the Veronica Beard Stryder Double-Breasted Dickey Coat. It’s a style I’ve never shared here before, and it checks every box: a luxe Italian fabric, a tailored shape and Veronica Beard’s signature removable dickey. Thankfully, the coat arrived just before our recent fall trip to Nantucket. It was perfect to wear amongst the hydrangeas as they were deepening in hue. I’m excited to share everything you’ll want to know below!
Veronica Beard Dicket Coat Review
Veronica Beard was founded by two sisters-in-law (both named Veronica!), and the brand is known for its Dickey Jacket: a tailored blazer with a removable insert that lets you change the look of one piece. That clever, wear-it-your-way idea is exactly why I keep coming back to the brand. The tailoring is polished, the fabrics feel special and every piece looks just as good with denim as it does dressed up.
If you’ve followed along for a while, you know I always keep an eye on the brand’s sales, too. I shared my favorites in How I’m Shopping the Veronica Beard Black Friday Sale.
Meet the Veronica Beard Stryder Dickey Coat
The Fabric: Luxe Italian Double-Weave Suiting
The Stryder is made from an Italian double-weave suiting in a soft neutral Veronica Beard calls Oyster Melange, and it’s fully lined in cupro, so it slips on easily over sweaters. The double weave gives it a substantial, polished drape. It feels far more like a tailored blazer than a puffy winter layer.
The Removable Dickey: Two Coats in One
This is my favorite part. The coat comes with a removable funnel-neck dickey that adds an extra layer of warmth around your neck when the wind picks up (hello, Nantucket!). Wear it in for a cozy, high-neck look, or take it out for a cleaner, classic coat. Retailers also note it’s compatible with other Veronica Beard dickey inserts, so you can switch up the look even more.
A Tailored, Waist-Defining Fit
Unlike a boxy overcoat, the Stryder is tailored for a slim, waist-defining silhouette, with flap pockets and a long, elegant length. It’s the kind of coat that makes you stand up a little straighter.
How I Styled the Veronica Beard Dickey Coat on Nantucket
Since the coat does all the talking, I kept everything else simple and neutral. I paired it with FRAME Le Sleek Straight Jeans and my Castañer Chiara Espadrilles, which feel very Nantucket and keep the look from getting too serious.
For a little texture, I added the Veronica Beard Small Beaded Slouch Bag. Then I finished with Linda Farrow Dunaway Sunglasses, a pearl stud earring and my Cartier Baignoire Gold Watch. Classic, easy and very me.
Once winter hits, try swapping the espadrilles for knee-high boots, tucking a cashmere turtleneck underneath and keeping the dickey in on the coldest days.
Is the Veronica Beard Stryder Coat Worth It?
It’s an investment at $1,598, so here’s my honest take on who it’s for:
- Two looks in one: the removable dickey takes it from cozy and high-neck to classic and clean.
- Fabric and lining: Italian double-weave suiting with a cupro lining feels luxe and layers easily.
- Fit: slim and waist-defining, so it flatters instead of overwhelming. Retailers list it as true to size.
- Length: about 42.6 inches on a size small, so it covers dresses and skirts, too.
- Care: dry clean only, which is worth knowing up front.
If you want one statement coat that feels polished for years, this is it. Shop the Veronica Beard Stryder Double-Breasted Dickey Coat while it’s still available, because sizes are already running low at some retailers.
