How to Wear a Tuxedo Dress
Dress: Black Tuxedo Dress | Bag: No. 21 Satin Knot Bag | Shoes: Steve Madden Daisie Pumps | Jewelry: BaubleBar Metallic Drops | Eyewear: Quay Sugar and Spice Sunglasses

Today, I’m diving into how to style a black tuxedo dress. Think tips and tricks to elevate this little black dress. Sure, I tend to prefer more colorful styles. Plus, I’m a girly-girl at heart. However, it’s nice to change it up now and again! A black tuxedo dress is the ideal opportunity to do so!

How to Style a Black Tuxedo Dress

So, how do you style a tuxedo dress? After all, you don’t want to look like a flight attendant or hostess. Therefore, it’s critical to find ways to elevate the look. Furthermore, designers are pushing the envelope the designing really unique and beautiful styles, like this dress. The lace detail? So good!

Keep the Accessories Simple

My best advice? Keep the accessories simple. For one thing, you want to keep the focus on the dress. Furthermore, you don’t want jewelry or the bag to look fussy.

As such, keep accessories simple with a subtle pop of color. In my case, I chose a simple emerald green bag (last worn in this post). Also, you must try these pumps. They elongate your legs and they’re super comfy!

Wear a Tank Top Underneath

Friends, trust me on this one! The tuxedo dress is fabulous, but the top part opens slightly. Therefore, a lace tank top is a simple way to add more coverage. Overall, this has been my go-to tank top (retails under $20).

Fit Details

Overall, I found that the dress fits true-to-size. Hooray! Additionally, the back zip makes it easy to wear with no-fuss.

In Closing

I hope you’ve been having a relaxing weekend so far! On Friday night, we went out for dinner in Lakeview and sat outside. Yes, that’s right, we dined al fresco without a coat for an evening meal in Chicago on October 20th. At first, we thought that would be the highlight of the meal.

Then, out of nowhere, both the bartender and the server gave us free margaritas! Technically, they gave them to Bob, but he shared his with me, so it was a win-win, lol! Saturday was spent taking photos for the blog (again, thank you Mother Nature for the nice weather). Last night, we went out to dinner and a movie with Kit. Have you seen the new Kingsman yet? This second one had quite the cast! We’re heading out to spin class this morning, and then absolutely nothing is on the agenda for the rest of the day. I can’t wait!
