New York, New York. A city so nice, they named it twice! My full-time job brings me to the Big Apple anywhere from six to fifteen times each year. Lately, I’ve been trying to extend some of my business trips into the weekend (when possible) in order to enjoy more leisure time. While I absolutely love client strategy sessions and media meetings, I always leave wishing I had more time to catch up with friends and explore. Therefore, to start 2018 off on the right foot, I reached out to The Williamsburg Hotel about partnering for a weekend stay.

While Soho, Greenwich Village, and the Meatpacking District are all amazing parts of NYC, Brooklyn has quickly become my favorite spot for leisure time in the city. I immediately feel more relaxed and calm. Williamsburg is one of the most charming spots – I love all of the restaurants, bars, shops, and street art.

Bob and I previously stayed at The Williamsburg Hotel in spring of 2017. Back then, the hotel was newly opened, and construction was still ongoing for some parts of the building. Regardless, we fell in the love with the property, the staff, service, and beautiful design. It was a truly wonderful stay, and we always knew we’d be back.

Needless to say, our second visit didn’t let us down. The building is even more beautiful than we remembered, and they’ve opened their restaurant, Harvey, which serves AMAZING food. I am OBSESSED with their brunch, especially the hash brown sandwich and açai bowl. Delish! The bar gets quite busy during nights and weekends – a perfect place to meet up with friends, colleagues, etc.

The rooms are without question my favorite part of the property. I stayed in a King Terrace the first night and moved to a Skyline Suite for the next two. Although you can’t go wrong with any of the offerings at The Williamsburg Hotel, if you can splurge for the suite, do it! The views are stunning. The mini bar is fully stocked, the bed is super comfy, and the bathroom is phenomenal (the soap/beauty products are awesome). On a side note, I would advise bringing an eye mask and ear plugs – especially if you’re worried about light and sound (like me). Bob didn’t have any issues, but I get very sensitive those things, as I do at most hotels, Sadly, it’s always been a struggle for me – not just this property.

Another reason I love staying here is the location. Several friends of mine live in Brooklyn, and those who don’t are always up for the quick train ride. Since there are so many cute restaurants and shops within a stone’s throw of the hotel, it was so easy to get together with some of my favorite people. Allie and I were able to grab dinner at Denizen; Jennifer and I had a lovely lunch at Juliette; Grace met up with Bob and I at Marlow & Sons; finally, we enjoyed brunch with Sam and Kyle at Egg Shop. Last time we stayed in Williamsburg, we tried Mable’s Smokehouse and Maison Premiere. So many great spots! Lastly, since we fly in and out of LaGuardia, it’s a much faster (and more affordable) cab ride to Brooklyn than it is to Manhattan.

If you are looking to visit New York and want to explore something beyond the same-old same-old in Manhattan, I highly recommend The Williamsburg Hotel. Whether you’re looking for a romantic weekend or a girlfriends getaway, this spot will exceed all expectations. Enjoy, and be sure to let me know if you stay here!
