Well, it was a classic early spring weekend in Chicago. Saturday hit the 70 degree mark followed by crazy overnight storms and wind and a frigid Sunday. Before the temps turned, we went for a long walk around the neighborhood followed by dinner on our porch. It was lovely to see people out – from stir-crazy families taking their kids to the park to bustling restaurant patios. Given the constant changes in temps, it’s the time of year where you’re always on your toes when putting together layers. Especially for the work week! Thankfully, the Ann Taylor spring new arrivals include so many lightweight separates.

First, this yellow plaid jacket and shell are both incredibly soft. Originally, I assumed it would be a stiff tweed, but it’s a supple cotton which makes them both so effortless. I love how it pairs perfectly with their pleated-back trench coat as seen below.
