Over the years, I’ve owned a LOT of dresses. In fact, 90% of my closet are midis, maxis, minis, and everything in between. Dresses are my JAM. Therefore, whenever I receive samples from a brand, I immediately get excited to give them a test run. Case in point – Boden. I had the pleasure of receiving this Boden yellow dress prior to my trip to London.
After receiving it in the mail, I knew it would be a great addition to my wardrobe. Yet, like all of my dresses, I prefer actually wearing them before making up my mind about a piece.
Also, I need to talk about these tassel sandals and bold clutch. Below, I’ll share more information about each piece. Spoiler alert – I love them! However, this is not a full love letter to the brand. As with most companies, there are things the brand can work on.
Boden Yellow Dress
This particular dress style was just a bit tricky. First, the color and design are stunning. However, the material isn’t super soft or nimble. At times, I felt myself fidgeting with the arm holes. Plus, I am consistently puling down the bottom of the dress to create less creases.
Listen, countless dresses fall into the same category. I can’t expect 100% wrinkle-free fabrics garments. However, I wouldn’t consider this item as a great “travel dress.” In other words, I won’t be packing this for work trips or meetings. 🙂
Basically, this yellow dress is much better options for “car to drinks” situations. Occasions where you don’t have to worry about creases, lines, and marks. In my hotel room, I had spent a lot of time steaming the fabric. However, after 10 minutes of sitting in an Uber? The dress looked like I had worn it all day. Yuck.
Thankfully, I’ve had the opportunity to wear other Boden apparel and accessories. This suede clutch and tassel sandals performed flawlessly. The clutch holds all of my necessary items, and the shoes were comfy and fun.
In light of this situation, I just triple check the fabric overview on their website descriptions. Plus, I tend to opt for materials that have a bigger blend. The British-based brand has a bright future, and I’m excited to try more of their items in the years to come.
