Who doesn’t love Girl Scout Cookies? From S’mores to Samoas, Thin Mints to Tagalongs, there is something for every sweet tooth. Also, did you know there’s an art (and even science) to Girl Scout cookie wine pairings? Yes, friends! Why not enjoy some cookies with a glass of wine?

Today, I’m sharing ideas for mixing matching your fave cookie and cabernet. Consider me a cookie and wine connoisseur of sorts, if you will. 🙂 Granted, I’m no sommelier, haha! However, I do enjoy a glass of wine every now and again. Therefore, I wanted to share my thoughts on the best pairings. Enjoy!

So where do we start? Well, first – start with your fave cookie or two. Keep in mind Girl Scout Cookies are only $5/box. Frankly, that feels like a steal compared to some of the prices of other cookies at the grocery store. Not to mention way more delicious! Plus, you end up supporting an organization that helps build confidence, courage, and life skills for the next generation of young women and girls. Love that! Furthermore, their mission is to make the world a better place and to “help people at all times.”

While they’re knowing for their programming, the Girl Scout Cookie program is arguably one of the biggest facets. I’m sure you have your go-to options but don’t be afraid to try a new flavor. You might surprise yourself. What’s your personal favorite? Drop a comment below and let me know! I’m very curious!

Also, if you’re looking for a fun Galentine’s Day party or girls’ night in entertaining idea? I recommend a BYOGSC (bring your own Girl Scout Cookie) and have the wine ready to go. Taste test the different pairings and watch a film together. Trust me – the Girl Scout Cookie wine pairings will be a crowd pleaser!

Tagalongs Wine Pairing

First, let’s start with one of my newest fave Girl Scout Cookies – S’mores! Friends, this is not your average s’more – trust. The cookie was introduced in 2017. It’s divine – do NOT pass up a box of this one. DELICIOUS. The depth of flavor is amazing, and it’s not too sweet. For a wine pairing, try a dry Merlot to bring out the complexity of flavors.

This bottle of Merlot is a personal fave with high ratings and a great price (under $13).

Peanut Butter Sandwich

I used to love this one! The Peanut Butter Sandwich is classic and timeless – never going out of style. In case you’re unfamiliar, the Peanut Butter Sandwich (also referred to by the Girl Scouts as a Do-si-dos®, are crunchy oatmeal sandwich cookies with peanut butter filling pairing – a fruity Zinfandel.

Fun fact: Zinfandel is one of, if not my fave, wines! It’s rich, fruity and just positively divine in every way. I recommend the Josh Bourbon Barrel Zinfandel, an aged Zin that’s both vibrant and spicy. Plus, the flavors of licorice and cracked black pepper perfectly complement the peanut butter.

Thin Mints

This was my mom’s absolute favorite Girl Scout cookie. Please tell me you put them in your freezer too? For Thin Mints, I recommend pairing it with Clos de Siete, a refined creamy wine. To be transparent, the company I work for has represented the brand before. However, it’s for that very reason why I know it pairs well! The wine has notes of blackberries and blueberries with chocolate and light hazelnut notes. It’s a medium to full body wine and retails under $20.

Tagalongs

As Bob will tell you, Peanut Butter Patties (also called Tagalongs), are my absolute favorite of all time. These cookies are layered with peanut butter and covered with a chocolaty coating. So good! I always buy like four boxes (okay, maybe like six, haha!). The best wine pairing for the Tagalons? My personal fave is Girard Artistry Red Napa Valley, which features red and black currants, blueberries, spring flowers, tea, and graphite aromas and flavors.

Caramel DeLights

Also known as Samoas, Caramel DeLights are filled with caramel, coconut, and chocolaty stripes. Yum! Bob adores Samoas (I think it may even be his #1). If you’re looking for a divine wine pairing, I’d recommend a Port wine of some sort. When I visited Portugal last year, I fell back in love with Port wines. They are sweet and a perfect pairing with any dessert (or really any of these cookies). My recommended option is Graham’s Six Grapes Reserve Port (under $20).

It’s from Douro, Portugal and features a dark red color and notes of ripe plums and cherries. Additionally, you’ll love it’s complex, rich, nutty flavor. Overall, Graham’s Port pairs perfectly with decadent desserts.

Lemon-Ups®

Last but certainly not least – Lemon-Ups! These are a much lighter, citrus-forward cookie that features inspiring messages. If you’re looking for an option that’s not too chocolate or sugary – this is for you! I recommend pairing it with a Prosecco or Champagne. I’d recommend my all-time fave champagne, Veuve Clicquot. Was there any other choice for a phenomenal Girl Scout Cookie Wine Pairing? I think not! 🙂
