My List to the Best Shopping on the Island

After summering on the island for more than a decade, I wanted to share our ultimate Nantucket shopping guide. Supporting small businesses is always important, and the destination has infinite reasons why you’d want to do so. There’s truly something for everyone – whether you’re searching for unique antiques, Nantucket Lightship Baskets, vintage and modern art, or the coolest new-to-you womenswear or accessory brands.

Keep in mind, the island consistently has pop-up shops throughout high season (June – August), ranging from brands like La DoubleJ to LoveShackFancy, Christy Lynn (yay!), and even J.Crew. Transparently, this shopping guide solely focuses on the stores that are (mostly) exclusive to the island, so you can make a point to shop there on your next visit.

I’ll continue to keep this guide to Nantucket shopping updated as new stores open and/or change.

The Ultimate Nantucket Shopping Guide

As one of our favorite destinations in the world, Nantucket has one golden rule – the island eats up time faster than a Cru lobster roll. Sure, each visit brings about a sense of serene calm. However, to pay your dues – the island makes you feel you blinked and already returned home – even if you’ve been there a month. To maximize your time, it’s helpful to plan out the places you want to visit, and pace yourself to truly enjoy every moment.

Below features our guide to our favorite places to shop on Nantucket:

Best Nantucket Home Stores

Many years ago, our interior designer taught us an important lesson – the best homes are layered with pieces that have stories. It might be something from a trip, or a family heirloom that stands the test of time. Home design isn’t just about gorgeous colors, wallpapers, and furniture. It’s about the unique items that bring a smile to your face and have deeper meanings. As such, we’ve always kept an eye out for small decorative objects, art, and accessories that will breathe new life into our home. Thankfully, these Nantucket home stores always do the trick and give us reasons plenty of reasons to return:

Nantucket Looms, Interior Design, Home Store

Nantucket Looms

Our favorite home store on the island is Nantucket Looms. In fact, it’s always among our first stops so we can see what they have in-store (and plan our entire buy around it). Over the years, we’ve accumulated SO many great finds, including dish sets, serving pieces, and an original island painting by the artist, Ken Layman, who’s been displaying his artwork there since 1971.

They’re especially known for their handwoven blankets and throws featuring the finest fibers. We’ve been eyeing one forever, and just trying to settle on a color! Ultimately, we’re leaning towards this classic mohair style in sky blue (currently out of stock). Also, if you’re interested – they have a great e-commerce website. We find ourselves perusing (and purchasing) from it throughout the entire year as they receive new arrivals.

Address: 51 Main Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Bodega

Located near the Stop & Shop on the wharf, Bodega is a charming boutique filled with a mix of jewelry, accessories, women’s apparel, and above all – home décor and accessories. I’ve found a ton of great items here to bring home, from our new shell bottle opener and oversized aviator sunglasses, to a cozy Nantucket cardigan that I get a ton of compliments on.

Address: 2 Candle Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Best Nantucket Antiques and Vintage Shops

Wow, this list was hard to craft! Nantucket is full of amazing antique stores and vintage shops, and here is a curated selection of our top picks. The island is also a phenomenal place for estate sales and Facebook Marketplace finds, so be sure to go the extra mile to research timely options too!

Four Winds Craft Guild Nantucket Basket

Sylvia Antiques | Four Winds Craft Guild

For as long as I can remember, Sylvia Antiques and Four Winds Craft Guild have been one of our all-time favorite stores on the island. They’ve been selling antiques since 1927, ranging from art to sailor’s valentines, and of course – Nantucket Lightship baskets. In fact, I worked with their fabulous team, including the owner (John), Liz, and Gwen, to purchase and customize my very first Nantucket Lightship basket.

Furthermore, I’m currently in the midst of working with them on my first ever Nantucket Lightship clutch (can’t wait to show you the final result – it’s been a concept I’ve been thinking about for years!). Their team and antiques are phenomenal; I’m so grateful for their exceptional customer service.

Address: 15 Main Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Nantucket Antiques Depot

Nantucket Antiques Depot

For the past few years, we’ve shopped at Nantucket Antiques Depot, a (deceiving large) store centrally located in Town near Juice Bar. Inside, you’ll find a curated selection of antiques, artwork, home décor, and more. Frankly, I believe they have the best selection of antique art, especially their woolies, which are sailor’s woolworks (basically 19th-to-early-20th-century maritime folk art).

Address: 2 South Beach Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Janis Aldridge Inc

Many years ago, Bob and I were eating at Lobster Trap and decided to pop by a few stores nearby. Our first stop? Janis Aldrige, a one-of-a-kind store featuring 17th-21st century furniture, engravings, and decorative accessories. We’ve met the owner a couple of times, and she’s always been so kind, informative, and ready to answer any of our questions.

On our first trip, we stepped into the store and I immediately felt intimidated. Perhaps it was the precious pottery displays or the gorgeous gold framed art adorning the walls. We quickly realized our first impression was wrong, though. Sure, the store is full of special finds – but they are excited and interested to learn more about you, your interests, and design sensibilities.

Listen, the store’s price points aren’t for the faint of heart, but they do match the quality of the pieces. It’s certainly not meant to be casual window shopping experience, and they have loyal clients for a reason. We always go in understanding the assignment (and price points), and the fact their collection is well-priced for the antiquities they sell.

Address: 6 Coffin St, Nantucket, MA 02554

Nantucket Hospital Thrift Shop

Hospital Thrift Shop

On the complete other end of the price spectrum, welcome to Hospital Thrift Shop! There’s a reason why this place goes viral on TikTok – especially on opening day. There are infinite unique finds, and like any great thrift shop – you never know what you’ll find. Our friend, Georgie Morley always has the best eye when it comes to this stop (be sure to follow her!).

Best of all, the funds to support the Nantucket Hospital. You may even have an Amy Poehler sighting (and yes, that happened). We left her alone, of course – but let’s just say we felt it was “good hang.” 🙂

Address: 17 India St, Nantucket, MA 02554

Best Nantucket Souvenir and Specialty Shops

Four Winds Gifts Nantucket

Four Winds Gifts

Many moons ago, my dad and mom traveled to Nantucket and around Cape Cod. I specifically recall my mom returning and saying Nantucket was her favorite. 🙂 Like mother, like daughter. To this day, I remember her bringing back different souvenirs for us, including a lilac Ralph Lauren sweatshirt with a green logo. In addition, she bought some hydrangea artwork that I still own to this day.

In many ways, I strongly believe many of the pieces my mom purchased were from Four Winds Gifts. Stop in for affordable yet noteworthy giftables and souvenirs. It’s always busy, but worth the stop!

Address: 8 Straight Wharf, Nantucket, MA 02554

Sconset Market Nantucket

Sconset Market

After renting a home in Sconset a few summers ago, Sconset Market became a go-to for groceries, muffins, iced coffee, and more. Beyond their food, Sconset Market has a lovely range of home gifts like ceramics and candles to apparel and our favorite – their namesake pantry products. Don’t pass up their hot sauce, marinades, salsas, and more. We always make sure to buy extra to bring home in our luggage.

Address: 4 Main Street, Siasconset, MA 02564

Nantucket Peddler

Listen, at some point during your journey, you’ll likely cave and purchase a Nantucket branded sweatshirt, hoodie, t-shirt, or hat. Our favorite place to find and purchase those items? Nantucket Peddler. There are PLENTY of other options around the island too. However, we’ve always found them to have the best selection at reasonable prices. Best of all, it’s right on the wharf so you can easily grab some souvenirs before boarding the ferry.

Address: 37 Straight Wharf, Nantucket, MA 02554

Best Nantucket Clothing and Accessory Boutiques

Nantucket Jennifer Lake

Murray’s Toggery Shop

No Nantucket shopping guide is complete without Murray’s. The family owned clothing store has been in business since 1945, and they’re home of the original Nantucket Reds™. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed by a visit to this long-running store, which has options for men and women, including apparel, gifts and accessories. Also, don’t forget to visit upstairs which has plenty of sale items. I also love they have an entire section of Peter Beaton hats and custom ribbons. So good!

In the past, Murray’s has also supported our Sail to Sable x Style Charade collection by purchasing some pieces. I’m incredibly grateful to them and honored to be a part of such an iconic store!

Address: 62 Main Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Jennifer Lake Farm Rio Blue White

Centre Pointe Nantucket

The sweet and brilliant owner, Margaret Anne Nolen, has created something truly special at Centre Pointe Nantucket. Their team travels the world to bring a curated mix of apparel, jewelry, accessories, and home goods to the island. Think Amanda Lindroth, Etu Home, Aerin Lauder, Asha, Jane Win, Gray Malin and more. Some of our favorites include the seasonal collections by Cartolina, along with home staples from Backcountry Mercantile.

Address: 22 Centre Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Marissa Collections

Just finishing its second season, Marissa Collections is an absolute must-stop for women seeking gorgeous designer apparel and accessories. This family-owned business originated in Naples, and has since opened a second location on Nantucket.

I’ve been fortunate enough to attend (and host) a couple of Marissa’s events, and they’re some of my most cherished memories on the island. Don’t forget to check out their selection of Christy Lynn apparel, Irene Neuwirth jewelry, and Oscar de la Renta essentials. After speaking with their family, I found out they originally started with just jewelry and expanded to include clothing and additional accessories. Their fine jewelry collection is unmatched, and truly spectacular!

Address: 25 Centre Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

ACK Sak Nantucket Basket Tote

For Now

One of the hottest stores on the island? For Now. It’s for good reason, as the store carries an effortless mix of apparel, shoes, jewelry, handbags, beauty products, and accessories for both men and women. Moreover, For Now carries the “it” bag of the island – the ACK Sack. It sells quickly, so be sure to get your hands on it!

Address: 8 Washington Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

HaulOver Nantucket

If you’re a fan of activewear and leisure brands like Patagonia, Yeti, and Helly Hansen – this store is for you. Directly located next to Stop & Shop on the wharf, HaulOver is one of Bob’s all-time favorite stores on the island. They have so many cool exclusive products with the Nantucket island symbol on them for both men and women. We stop there every summer, and Bob comes home with easily 3-4 pieces each trip.

Address: 7 Salem Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Jewelers Gallery Nantucket Cape Cod Bracelet

Jewelers’ Gallery of Nantucket

Years ago, Bob and I stopped in at Jewelers’ Gallery, which is the oldest established jewelry store on Nantucket. Inside, you’ll fine a range of both fine and fashion jewelry, along with nautical bracelets, turk’s head jewelry, and more. In fact, this is the boutique where I purchased my two-tone Cape Cod bracelet, which I wear everyday. It’s held up beautifully, and I hope to purchase more pieces from this store in the years to come.

Address: 21 Centre Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Blue Beetle Nantucket

Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle is such a fun stop for women’s apparel, jewelry, and accessories. The brand has also picked up the Sail to Sable x Style Charade collection for many seasons, which means SO much to me. Even so, I would select this store no matter what. They have a beautiful eye when it comes to designs, and I always leave wanting to come back for more.

Address: 12 Main Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Beau and Ro Nantucket Basket Necklace

Beau & Ro

In 2013, Sara founded Beau & Ro after designing her first leather clutch in her NYC apartment. She’s since grown Beau & Ro into a full apparel brand sold in our online shop and in nearly 300 stores around the country. In her retail store locations, located in Charleston and Nantucket, she brings together original Beau & Ro collections, curated designers, and sourced pieces that celebrate craftsmanship and personal style. I was so fortunate to join Sara and Sue Sartor, along with a wonderful group of women, on an Endeavor cruise this past summer!

Vineyard Vines Nantucket

vineyard vines Nantucket

It’s no secret we’re super fans of vineyard vines. For more than a decade, we’ve loved working with the brand (and wearing their pieces on the daily). Thankfully, the vineyard vines Nantucket store doesn’t disappoint. They offer so many exclusive products you can’t purchase anywhere else, and consistently update their inventory throughout the season.

J.McLaughlin Nantucket Mark D Sikes

J.McLaughlin

One of my ultimate must-stop shops on the island is J.McLaughlin. First, the store is absolutely FABULOUS. They have a small side garden and the most darling interiors of the store. This summer, I had the chance to attend the Mark D. Sikes x J.McLaughlin luncheon, which was yet another reminder of how much I love this brand.

From summer staples to cozy cashmere, J.McLaughlin always has something interesting to add to your closet. I also think they’re the most underrated accessories brand on the market right now. Their belts and handbags are incredible, and truly feel they deserve more praise for continuing to deliver timeless yet modern accessories that fit effortlessly into all occasions.

Address: 1 Salem Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Lilly Pulitzer

Many years ago, I was lucky enough to go on a brand trip to Nantucket with Lilly Pulitzer. At the time, they had worked with White Elephant to design a cottage using Lilly’s signature patterns and prints. The hotel has since renovated, so the cottage no longer exists. However, the experience left some wonderful lasting memories. Furthermore, I had the chance to check out their store on Nantucket, and always love stopping in to find the newest and greatest.

What’s the Stitch Makery Nantucket

The Makery by ForNow

What a fun store by the team by ForNow! This destination is an interactive design studio and craft workshop. Inside, you can get pieces custom embroidered or engraved, and there’s even a permanent Sal Almore Custom Hat Bar. There’s nothing mass-produced for sale, and I even love the fact they have Nantucket Tuk-Tuks parked outside. From home good to needlepoint offerings from What’s the Stitch, this new destination is not to be missed!

Address: 8 Washington Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Sailor’s Valentine Nantucket Tuckernuck

A Sailor’s Valentine by Tuckernuck

One of the most exciting announcements this past year was that Tuckernuck was officially launching a store on Nantucket. Right now, they only have a few around the country (e.g., Washington D.C., New York), so an island outpost for the brand made so much sense. Inside, the interior design is spectacular. This is Nantucket after all – in order to stand out, a brand truly needs to bring it. The shell adorned walls and ceiling are designed to evoke the look and feel of sailor’s valentines, which is beyond charming!

Additionally, the store offers a mix of jewelry, accessories, and clothing – with a special emphasis on their private labels like Pomander Place and Hyacinth House. Since the store has a smaller footprint, I’d LOVE to see the Tuckernuck team revisit their inventory mix by offering some island exclusives. The brand is one of my all-time favorites and biggest wardrobe go-to’s, and I can see myself shopping there a lot more if they offered pieces only available in-store.

Address: 23 Centre Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

Erica Wilson Designs

If we had to debate about the best womenswear boutique featuring many brands on the island, I’d make it a toss up between Marissa Collections, Blue Beetle, and Erica Wilson. Each company has a different and distinct point of view, but my gut says the majority of you would like Erica Wilson the most.

I love they sell Krista’s needlepoint line, Penny Linn Designs, along with other popular brands like Frank & Eileen, Saloni, and Alemais.

Address: 25 Main Street, Nantucket, MA 02554

SkinnyDip Nantucket

Centrally located on the wharf, SkinnyDip’s Nantucket outpost has loads of appealing options for men, women, and even kids. From Ellsworth & Ivey Nantucket sweaters, to Matchbook Diaries art, they have a beautiful array of options that everyone will love. I also love their selection of dresses and separates from various female-owned brands.

Address: 23 Old South Wharf, Nantucket, MA 02554

Ultimate Nantucket Shopping Guide – In Closing

Lastly, I hope this Nantucket shopping guide gave you insights into some of the best small businesses around the island. You’ll also find notable brands like Hill House, Dairy Boy, Dôen, and TWP Clothing, but frankly – these other companies deserve a bit more spotlight and shine as it relates to the island itself.

At the same time, I wanna know – what is this list missing? Are there other stores or shops you feel are absolute musts when visiting Nantucket? Drop a comment – I’d love to know!
