Ideas from Work to Weekend
Summer Travel Outfits

One of the best parts of summer is all the travel! It’s a great time to explore the world, whether you’re headed to the cool beaches of Nantucket (my favorite vacation destination) or the historic downtown streets of London. No matter your destination, you need some fresh outfits to make the most out of your vacation! Plus, new outfits are a great way to feel pampered.

Today, I have compiled a list of 20 outfit ideas to help you style your own vacay look. I hope this helps all you gals assemble the perfect summer travel outfit wardrobe. 🙂 Here’s the list:

20 Summer Travel Outfits

Wide Leg Denim and Classic Striped Navy Shirt

Here’s a really easy outfit to style for any getaway. What I love about this one is that it’s really comfy and stylish, so it’s the ieal choice for a plane or train ride (well, I don’t take ever take the train in Chicago, lol). But you’ll find me on a United flight, of course. Moreover, a lot of the outfits on this list are really feminine, but this one is a lot more gender neutral.

Tibi Navy Cropped Culottes Summer Travel Outfits

Start with this Rag & Bone striped button-up shirt that has a classic but elevated pinstripe style. Add these white high waisted, wide legged jeans that’ll help give you shape. Accessorize with dark square sunglasses, this Monica Vinader diamond bracelet, and a large slouch tote (perfect personal item for a flight).

Finally, grab these classic leather Veja sneakers. Now you’ve got the perfect travel clothes for a busy day at the airport.

Floral Midi Dress with Neutral Accessories

There are so many things to love about wearing dresses on vacation. They’re easy to style (fewer pieces to assemble), they’re breezy, and they’re super flattering. This A-line ruffle dress is white with a bold and glamorous floral print in navy. It is super cute and versatile; ready for a casual day or a nice vacation brunch.

Ann Taylor New Arrivals

Pair this dress with neutral accessories because it’s already bold and beautiful. Your accessories should frame your dress rather than distract from it. So, grab a neutral leather crossbody, gold hoops (or these rattan earrings), and these raffia wedges. Each piece complements the other and creates a gorgeous and luxurious vacation look.

Wool Sweater and Peacoat

Not everywhere you go is going to be sunny and beachy. You might have vacation ambitions in a cold climate. Even places like Nantucket or San Francisco start to get cool in August, so you might need a warmer outfit.

Wool is perfect for the end of summer or beginning of fall, because it works for different types of weather. It retains temperature, naturally repels moisture, and provides full coverage. Love that!

Sail to Sable Navy Stripe Sweater Summer Travel Outfits

For this outfit, you need this marled funnel neck wool blend sweater in blush and these distressed blue jeans (they’re super affordable!) If you’re still a little chilly despite the long sleeves, you can easily layer on this navy wool peacoat. To contrast the soft textures of the textiles, accessorize with bold gold and crystal accessories.

Moreover, I love these Kennedy rings and this personalized necklace. Gorgeous!

Gingham Tiered Dress and Straw Hat

Here’s another super simple dress to style that comes from my own Sail to Sable collection! These dresses are absolutely adorable and makes you feel fun and free at any destination. To amplify this romantic outfit, add this origami sun hat (UPF 50+) and these feminine crocheted wedges. Oh, and don’t you dare forget that Gucci shoulder bag.

You’ll feel posh, pretty, and playful in this classic ensemble. 🙂

Black Dress and Boots with Woven Handbag

If you enjoy late nights on the town when you vacation, you need something a little fierce and a little sexy. This outfit is totally that! Get ready to rock this rib-knit dress that adds shape in all the right places.

The curvy neckline and flare sleeves will help define your figure while the deep color and texture are naturally slimming! Add some powerful black boots and this geometric woven tote bag, and you have the perfect evening look.

Shapeless Pink Dress and Tonal Sandals

This little white dress is super comfy and cute! It’s really flattering if you have any curves you’d like to hide or if you want to balance out your thin frame. So, really, it’s perfect for almost anyone. The dress comes in lots of colors, so if pink isn’t your vibe, shop all 8 options.

Jennifer Lake Nantucket Pink Lace Dress Summer Travel Outfits

Tone the color down with tonal accessories if you choose a bright color. These AJ Morgan sunglasses and raffia lantern earrings draw the eyes upward and totally elevate the look. Finally, grab these tonal leather sandals. They’ll elongate your legs since there’s no heel, but it totally works with the oversized dress. You’ll be perfectly balanced and totally chic.

Cable-Knit Shirt and Floral Skirt

Here’s a look that’s totally Style Charade. Bright colors. Lots of texture. And totally unique. Start with this cropped cable knit top in apple green and add this flared floral slip skirt. I love a vibrant, printed maxi skirt with a solid top.

It’s surprising and so cute! J. Crew also has a matching floral bucket hat that will even out the look and add a lot of visual interest. Don’t be afraid to keep dropping in those blocks of green to further accessorize.

Sheer Floral Top and Faux Leather Pants

This Asian-inspired look is urban and edgy. It’s great streetwear no matter where you’re vacationing. Wear this mustard-colored floral sheer blouse that has flattering balloon sleeves and a gathered neckline that smoothes the figure and provides breezy coverage.

Complement the top with leather pants (or black jeans if that’s too edgy for your personal style). Finish the look with this expandable tote in burnt red or sun yellow. It’s both functional and fashionable.

Abstract Swimsuit with High Rise White Shorts

One Shoulder Bow Swimsuit

I LOVE this swimsuit. It really allows itself to be a stylish top AND a functional swimsuit with its removable oversized bow. (Definitely add this one to your packing list.) It comes in a few color combinations, but this one is my favorite.

If you have some boardwalk adventures ending with a beach afternoon, you might want a transitional outfit like this. Just grab the suit, some frayed white shorts, and this Tory Burch basket tote for all your beach day essentials.

Denim Jacket and White Jeans

Evereve Review

Here’s another toned-back, practical look for any of you fashionistas out there. This outfit is perfect for a busy travel day. Start with this oatmeal strong shoulder tank that will help define your hourglass figure. Then, layer a denim jacket overtop and brighten the look up with white cropped jeans. Then, rock this with heels or your favorite sneakers, depending on how much walking you’ve got going on!

Tie Waist Romper and Wedges

Rompers are such an easy way to make a trendy monochrome outfit with one simple piece. This linen-blend romper will keep you cool and comfortable. Moreover, it will accentuate your waist with its tie belt. To compliment the blue, accessorize with red and white! (A classic combo).

These canvas faded red wedges are perfect to give your tush a little lift! White beaded drop statement earrings and a pair of stylish white sunglasses will tone back the print and perfectly accompany your busy romper! Also, you can hide your fav swimsuit under this romper.

Shirt Dress with Straw and Gold Accessories

Here’s a classic shirt dress that should be in every summer capsule wardrobe. It can be styled in so many ways. You could add a belt [link waist belt article when live], change the length of the sleeves, or rock it buttoned or unbuttoned. It’s the best!

So, snatch this collared shirt dress and elevate it with beachy gold accessories. These caraway earrings look like ruffled straw. They’re totally chic and add a lot of visual interest, especially when paired with this palm leaf tote bag. For shoes? Keep it gold with these glam sandals

Gingham Tiered Dress with Textured Accessories

To make a luxurious outfit, layer up lots of textures! You can do this with inexpensive accessories or with high end ones, it’s really your choice. For this outfit, I started with a gingham dress with grosgrain trim that has a GREAT body.

For textures, I added leather slides, this woven bag, an enamel cuff, and these gold bird cage earrings. So many textures. SO MUCH TO LOVE.

Long Floral Dress with a Bold Clutch

Christopher John Rogers Orange Floral

My long floral dress is so sophisticated and perfect for your vacation! The print is bright and fun, and perfect for exciting accessories. Your look will be completely show-stopping with this dress, especially when paired with this wild Qajar Rose Eos clutch and these Vanilla raffia heels. It’s bold, but totally wearable for any of you ladies.

V-Neck White Top and Printed Bucket Hat

Sometimes I love a matchy-matchy look. It’s pretty trendy right now, and it’s really easy to style. First, you’ll need a base. This white v-neck cotton top with tassels will define your figure and keep the focus on the more exciting elements of the outfit. Plus, this matching smocked skirt could not be more summer! Finish the ensemble with these caramel kitten-heel sandals and you’ve got a quaint and romantic vacation look.

Bikini Top with Sicily Pants

So, I know you’ve heard me talk about Rifle Paper Co before. I love their process of creating amazing prints and applying them to so many different textiles. It makes getting the perfect outfit or assembling the perfect room a breeze.

For this outfit, pair this floral bikini top and bottom with these wide leg floral pants. You’ll look super fashion-forward with the pants on, and ready for a swim when they come off. Oh, and don’t forget your matching towel! Isn’t Rifle Paper Co the BEST?

Passiflora Asymmetrical Dress and Fringe Clutch

Whether it’s a fancy evening dinner or a sophisticated event, you might need something a little more formal while traveling. To get that formal look, grab this asymmetrical No Pise La Grama passiflora dress. The Palm Springs color palette and print is perfect for a vacation ensemble that’s elevated and coastal. Add this fringe clutch and these pleated mules to complete the evening wear!

Bodysuit and Poplin Skirt with Woven Hat

This outfit makes me want to skip through an open field like a Disney character. It’s a little vintage-inspired and a little chic. Perfect for any excursion! Pair this seafoam pinstripe bodysuit and quilted poplin skirt for a perfect ensemble.

Then, accessorize using the same green tone with this origami straw hat and these strappy stilettos! Balance all the color with this neutral crossbody. This is beautiful, trendy, and aside from the luxe skirt, pretty affordable!

Matchy-Matchy Striped Dress and Wedges

Blue Stripe Halter Dress Summer Travel Outfits

Here’s another find for you matchy-matchy lovers! Again, no ensemble is easier to put together than something that’s all one print or color. For this look, take this tide blue and white striped midi dress with these matching shoes for the main components. Then, add a few staple wardrobe pieces, including white sunglasses and a wicker bag. That’s it! How easy?

Asymmetrical One Piece with Sarong

Swimsuits on vacation are totally acceptable to wear anywhere because of the warm weather and casual atmosphere! So, let’s make outfits out of them, right? I adore this glamorous, asymmetrical one piece and it could totally pass a luxe top.

Add this breezy green blossom sarong to make it an outfit. It keeps you covered and stylish when you’re not in the water, but it’s easy to take off when the ocean calls. Oh, and don’t forget these fabulous sandals.
