Tulle skirts are such a feminine and festive option, right? If you’re like me, tulle skirts immediately conjure images of Carrie Bradshaw in the opening credits of Sex & The City. At the same time, it can often be overwhelming to decide how to style the look. After all, you want to look your age and certainly don’t want to appear to be a young prima ballerina. Therefore, today – I’m sharing three tips for how to style a tulle skirt for fall and winter.
My favorite tulle option of all time? Alexandra Grecco’s ivory midi skirt. I’ve worn it countless times throughout the year, including with this blush button-down shirt in Chicago and also with this pink bow sweater in Houston. If you’re planning to invest in a tulle skirt, be sure to opt for a color that’s neutral and easy to pair with other things.

Create a Monochromatic Look
One of the best ways to streamline a tulle skirt? Opt for a tone-on-one look from head to toe. Seriously! While I love my Alexandra Grecco tulle skirt, I needed to soften the look by adding an ivory cropped jacket into the mix. The ivory pairing streamlines the feel, and makes the outfit feel more mature, sophisticated and sleek. I would totally wear this outfit to the opera or to a charity gala.
Opt for a Midi Skirt Instead of a Mini
Midi skirts are my favorite length, but they’re especially perfect for tulle skirts. I’ve seen a few mini skirt options, but midi skirts feel way more refined and age appropriate. Take this sequin striped tulle skirt I wore in Houston. The length was positively perfect!
Pair it with Pastels
It’s no secret I’m a huge fan of all things pastels. Above all, I especially love wearing pastel tops with tulle skirts. The combination embraces all things pretty and feminine. In general, I recommend pairing an ivory tulle skirt with blush, lilac or light blue.
