At times, packing for special occasions can be stressful. Thankfully, after getting an invitation to attend the Kentucky Derby 2019 with vineyard vines, I knew my daily outfit picks would be easy! Their apparel and accessories are always flawless!
In case you’re unfamiliar, vineyard vines is a phenomenal brand founded by two brothers – Ian and Shep Murray. The collection is known for their preppy, nautical vibes – think stripes, seersucker, and fun colors. vineyard vines is also the “Official Style of the Kentucky Derby,” and every year, they come out with new products to celebrate the big race.
Packing for the Kentucky Derby 2019
While I pack for work and personal trips all of the time, the Kentucky Derby is SO different. Everyone brings their “A-game” when it comes to the Derby. From fabulous fascinators to pastel colors, race day is filled with phenomenal fashion picks.
After reviewing vineyard vines’ Kentucky Derby 2019 collection, a few pieces immediately caught my attention. First, I was immediately obsessed with the Weekender Bag. The pastel stripes, the size, etc. It’s amazing! Also, I can’t get enough of the Kentucky Derby Shep shirt. It’s seriously one of the most comfy pieces I’ve owned (and I got a ton of compliments on it at the airport).
Dawn at the Downs
Thursday morning, we’re heading kicked off with a visit to Churchill Downs for “Dawn at the Downs,” a popular VIP breakfast. We were given a sneak peek and first look at the venue, jockeys, and horses. Thankfully, the team told us ahead of time that wit was a super casual day.
My picks? This vineyard vines Kentucky Derby special edition Shep Shirt with the cutest seersucker detailing. I paired it with dark denim and Sperry boots, since we were told the grounds can get a bit muddy!
Visit to the vineyard vines store in Louisville
After an epic (and filling, I might add) breakfast, we headed to the vineyard vines store in Louisville to pick-out the most important accessory of the entire weekend – a fascinator! vineyard vines really outdid themselves this year with a range of superb styles.
Oaks Day 2019
On Friday, the day before the Derby, we attended Oaks Day. Everyone wears pink in honor of breast cancer. As such, I decided to wear this beautiful seersucker dress with pink floral bow detail. I also brought along this branded tote, which was a fabulous solution to fit everything I needed for the day (i.e. iPhone charger, cardigan, lip gloss, etc.).
Kentucky Derby 2019
The hardest decision of all was picking my Kentucky Derby outfit. After all, vineyard vines’ Kentucky Derby 2019 collection is phenomenal!! I seriously went back and forth 1,000 times! I ultimately landed on this amazing maxi dress with the beautiful floral print. I added these pink statement earrings and chic striped clutch.
Also, I’m always on the hunt for great layering pieces, and this pink poncho made for a great addition to the mix. I was SO thankful I brought it to the Derby as it ended up being slightly cold later that day.
The team at vineyard vines was kind enough to also dress Bob (who’s VV’s #1 fan). He chose a seersucker blazer, navy pants, and a mint julep tie. Throughout the entire day, Bob kept telling me, “Umm…. this blazer is ridiculously comfy.” After the third time, I was like, “I know, babe!” Lol.
Special thanks to vineyard vines for hosting us at the 2019 Kentucky Derby. This is not a paid post, but travel and weekend expenses were covered by the brand. All opinions are my own. Collaborations like these make Style Charade possible.
