Is it just me or does the holiday season feel extra busy this year? After getting home from London (no jet lag, thankfully), our calendars have been filled to the brim with events, activities, holiday parties, dinners, and beyond. Every. Single. Night.

For the past several years, I’ve taken a deliberate step back from events. For 10 years, I overcommitted to attending too many things – store openings, brand dinners, charity functions… the list goes on and on. Taking a step back from events has felt good–amazing really.

Don’t get me wrong, my time has filled up with other things: travel, family, the home, my full-time job, and the blog. I’ve loved the transition! Therefore, after seeing our calendar get booked with 18,000 events for two solid weeks, I started to panic. I really don’t want to get back to a place where I’m overcommitted. Thankfully, these are events that I 100,000% want to attend!

On Tuesday, we met up with Leo and Alicia (they’re amazing). We attended Liz Adams’ holiday party on Wednesday. It was the perfect way to toast to her blog and catch up with some of my favorite Chicago bloggers. After moving some things around late last night, we had the opportunity to see the Be There in Five podcast live show. And today? I cancelled everything. It was so needed.

Without going into too many details, this week is very hard for my family. My mom passed away on December 8th (the same day as my brother’s birthday). Unfortunately, my family is dealing with another major health scare. I can’t go into what’s going on, but it’s quite scary. The timing also couldn’t be worse with the anniversary of my mom’s passing. I promise to share more in the weeks to come, but please send a quick prayer for my family. We’ll need it today.

In lighter news, I’m excited to share today’s Friday Charades since I wasn’t able to last week since we were in London living our best life, lol. I hope you have a lovely weekend ahead!
