International Women’s Day with QVC #DreamDareDo

Disclosure: I have been compensated by QVC for this blog post. All opinions are my own.

“The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”  – Gloria Steinem

Today marks International Women’s Day, an important celebration of the economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world. I adore everything this day stands for and was truly honored when QVC reached out to me to create a blog post to celebrate all that this day represents, and also to share my experiences as a female entrepreneur and woman in business. In the spirit of the day, I am sharing images of previous posts that include some of my favorite female designers and women-led brands. Feel free to click on any image to see the original blog post. MY STORY

More than fifteen years ago, I dreamed of joining the public relations industry and transforming small brands into industry titans. At first, the journey was terrifying. I constantly questioned myself at every turn, but thankfully had an amazing group of female mentors who encouraged me along the way.

I’m so grateful to had the pleasure and privilege of working full-time for companies dominated by females. In fact, the first seven years of my career were spent at PR agencies that were owned and operated by women and made up of 100% female staff. My current company, Zapwater, is made up of almost entirely women, including 4/5ths of the leadership.

Women are an invaluable asset in business, especially public relations. We are strong communicators, multi-dimensional, creative, thoughtful, and savvy. Best of all? When we work together, we are unstoppable.

THE BLOG

While I’ve always loved my full-time job, I also had a dream of starting a style blog. The initial goal was simple – create a site that would showcase the world through a colorful, positive lens. Three years later, I can’t believe how much Style Charade has evolved. I’m still so thankful for each and every one of you for following the journey.

Like PR, I’ve been fortunate to have a tribe of mentors and supporters who constantly encourage and inspire me. I couldn’t do this journey without those women (looking at you Kit, Mara, Liz, Grace, Danielle, Alaina, Emily, Jess, Blair and so many more)! As they say, we get by with a little help from our friends. Since the start of Style Charade, I have been honored to be a resource and supporter of so many other bloggers and inspiring women!

An enormous thanks to QVC who continues to be a huge proponent of women in business and female entrepreneurs.

QVC is dedicated to empowering women to succeed in business, and they work with countless female entrepreneurs to sell their products on their website, broadcast channels and beyond. I love everything the represent, and was even more amazed to learn that in honor of International Women’s Day, QVC and participating vendors will donate a minimum of $250,000 to benefit Nest, a global nonprofit committed to the social and economic advancement of women by supporting female artisans who might not have the resources they need to flourish. LOVE THAT.
