The Politician Fashion Inspiration

A Blog Series in Support of Voter Registration
Politician Fashion Inspiration

Have you seen the Netflix series, The Politician? With an all-star cast led brilliantly by Ben Platt along with Gwyneth Paltrow, Lucy Boynton, Theo Germaine, Julia Schlaepfer, Rahne Jones, Laura Dreyfuss, and Zoey Deutsch (to name a few), the show is a binge-worthy hit produced by Ryan Murphy. The Politician fashion inspiration? Incredible!

Why I’m Doing A Politician Fashion Inspiration Photo Series

In the past, I’ve created style guides for films and TV series. My last one was Crazy Rich Asians. I loved highlighting Astrid’s style sensibility, Elenor Young’s regal outfit inspo, and Rachel Chu’s fashion evolution. Therefore, Netflix’s The Politician was a fun next option! Extra special thanks to my friend, Kit, who recommended the show and gave me the idea for a style shoot around the series.

Beyond highlighting The Politician fashion inspiration and outfit ideas, my main mission is to promote voting and voter registration.

The Importance of Voter Registration

In recent elections, only 60% of eligible U.S. citizens voted during Presidential election years (source: FairVote.org). It’s time to change that stat. I’m not looking to shame anyone, especially because I haven’t always been perfect about voting. Excuses aside, this year, we all must vote.

Through this photo series, I will be supporting When We All Vote, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that encourages voter registration and participation. During the month of August 2020, I will be donating 25% of my net affiliate sales from this Politician-inspired series to their organization.

Please note that I’m not formally affiliated with nor being paid by the organization in any way, shape, or form. I love what they stand for and how they are approaching voting, voter turnout, and the next election as a whole.

Voter Registration Resources

So where do you start? First, register to vote! Educate yourself about the candidates, their backgrounds, policies, plans, and everything in between. Sure, the Presidential candidates are a starting point, but I also want to remind you to do a deep dive and due diligence on the local, state, and national levels. We vote for more than just the President or a Senator, so I encourage you to go the extra mile to learn more about what’s on the election docket.

When We All Vote and Vote.org have a fantastic list of voting resources. To reiterate, both non-profits are non-partisan.

Which Netlix The Politician Characters Will You Be Covering?

The current photo series of Politician-inspired fashion photos features three of the characters from the show – Georgina Hobart (Gwyneth Paltrow), Astrid (Lucy Boynton) and Alice Charles (Julia Schlaepfer).

Rest assured the other characters have SUPERB and distinct fashion. From Skye Leighton’s (Rahne Jones) posh prints to McAfee Westbrook oversized pantsuits? Come on! And don’t even get me started about the pink and red blazer and pants from Season 2 with Bette Midler.

I hope to feature many more characters! Let me know in the comments below about what other cast members you’d like to see! Candidly, my clothing and location budget isn’t exactly on Netflix level, haha. Thankfully, several phenomenal brands stepped in to support this photo series and creative concept. I hope you’ll shop their companies in the days and weeks ahead!

In Closing

I’m thrilled to be launching this series, and I hope that you’ll engage, comment, and share. I posted the first Instagram image last night – take a peek! Lastly, get involved, and be sure to encourage your friends, family and strangers to register to vote.

At the end of the day, this photo series is not meant to tell you who to vote for, but we all must do it.
