The color yellow always brightens my day. It lifts my mood, and the hue just brings a smile to my face. Does that happen to you? Today, I wanted to share my go-to yellow shift dresses along with other styles to keep in mind when you’re shopping.
Yellow Shift Dresses
Are you thinking, “why do I need yellow shift dresses?” Friends, you aren’t living if you don’t invest in the style! Trust me, you won’t regret it. In many ways, I’ve found friends and family are afraid to wear yellow on a day-to-day basis.
Why is that? Perhaps women feel the color is too bold. On the other hand, they may not be wearing the right yellow dresses. Similar to all colors, there is a spectrum of Pantone hues. Daffodil, mustard yellow, neon, the list goes on and on. The key is to find a tone that works with your skin tone.
What Yellow Works On Me?
Thankfully, most yellow tones work with my skin tone. Additionally, when I wear the color, strangers will consistently compliment me on what I’m wearing. However, I’ve learned a very important lesson along the way. If I pick a yellow outfit, I have to go all-in (like the version I wore in Chicago above).
Part of the beauty of yellow outfit is the confidence that you exude when wearing it. Bold colors need bold attitudes.
The Yellow Shift Dresses Test
Okay, friends. In the next couple of weeks, I want you to test the yellow shift dresses test. Trust me, this is a worthwhile endeavor. After selecting a tone that works best with your skin tone, wear the outfit around close family and friends. Gauge their reaction.
If you’ve picked the right shade, I’d be shocked if you don’t get a sweet compliment. Case in point, this beautiful Lilly Pulitzer lace dress.
Below, I’m highlighting some of my best advice to styling a yellow shift dress. In many ways, accessories also majorly help an outfit. Choose your pieces wisely to make sure the look is cohesive and chic!
Pair with Gold Jewelry
Furthermore, if you wear a yellow shift dress, I highly recommend styling it with a gold necklace and/or earrings. Basically, gold will complement the warm tones of the yellow and add other visual interest to your outfit.
Silver Jewelry Also Works
At the same time, I’ve seen similar success with wearing silver statement jewelry. The balance of cool and warm tones work nicely together. If you need to pick between two metallics, I recommend gold over silver, though.
One Color Pairing Alone
If you decide to pair it with a color, similar to what I did in my Portugal outfit above, be sure to keep it just one shade! In this case, I chose to pair the yellow dress with blue.
Keep Things Simple
Overall, don’t overthink anything. The best lesson? Keep things simple. Generally, it’s best to your accessories simple and neutral. Do not pair too many colors together!
